What kind of God don’t you believe in?

“There’s probably no God.  Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.”

“I don’t believe in God” is a frequent response people make when they hear something about the Christian faith.  But isn’t it strange that even atheists like Richard Dawkins have formed an opinion about what God must be like?  This bus advertisement sells the lie that believing in God causes you to have fear and anxiety, and also stops you enjoying life. Who would want to believe in a God like that?

What God is really like is revealed in Jesus.  Through His life and death He shows us that God is not aloof and angry but is actually kind and compassionate.  He showed us that God is a loving Father who wants us to enjoy a close relationship with Him, and He came that we could “have life, and have it to the full” (John 10 vs 10).  Now that’s the kind of God I think we’d all like to believe in!

If you’d like to find out more about what God is really like, why don’t you come along to our next Alpha course – it’s a brilliant, informal way of discovering more about what Christians believe.  The course will be on Tuesdays at 7.45pm, beginning on 26th January 2016.  It begins with an 'Alpha Guest Meal' - this is an introductory evening where the topic is 'Christianity - boring, untrue & irrelevant?'

You are welcome to come along to all or any of our Alpha evenings. The course takes place at The English Lounge pub, 64-66 High Street, Manchester, M4 1EA (opposite Arndale Market).  We hope to see you there!
